What 244 is
244 is a community fundraising tool that lets organizers rally support around a person or cause. Donations go directly between donors and organizers via Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App — 244 never touches your money and charges no fees.
Information we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the service:
- Account info — email address, used to sign you in via magic link.
- Campaign content — title, story, recipient name, and cover photo you provide.
- Gift records — amount and donor note you submit when recording a gift. We do not collect payment details.
- Usage data — page view counts (no fingerprinting or cross-site tracking).
- Push notification tokens — only if you opt in to browser notifications.
How we use your information
- To operate and display campaigns.
- To send transactional emails (gift confirmations, campaign updates, weekly digest). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
- To send push notifications you've opted into.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.
Third-party services
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- UploadThing — cover photo storage.
- Vercel — hosting and edge delivery.
Each service has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data needed for them to function.
Data retention
We retain different categories of data for specific periods:
- Account data — retained while your account is active, plus 30 days after a deletion request to allow for processing.
- Gift records — retained for 7 years for tax and financial record-keeping obligations.
- Analytics data — retained for 2 years, then automatically deleted.
- Push notification tokens — deleted when the subscription expires or when you unsubscribe.
Your rights under the GDPR (EEA residents)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the following rights apply to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Lawful basis for processing — we process your data based on your consent (e.g., when you create an account) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service.
- Right to access — you may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to data portability — you may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to erasure — you may request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to restrict processing — you may request that we limit how we use your data.
